Job summary

Hottopic in the United States is seeking an Imports Coordinator to help keep our global supply chain moving. You will support the import process, coordinate documentation, and ensure compliance with Customs and other government agencies, reporting to the Sr. Manager, Imports & Exports.

The role is hybrid, based at our HQ in City of Industry, CA, requiring two days on site per week. You will work with cross-functional partners and carriers to maintain timely shipments and accurate records.

Qualifications

  • 1-2+ years import experience or equivalent
  • Understanding of USA Harmonized Tariff Code classification
  • Knowledge of government rules and regulations governing imports
  • Experience with ocean/air freight, customs brokers and import partners
  • Proficient Excel skills
  • Retail/NVOCC experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Support the import compliance process by reviewing documentation for completeness and accuracy
  • Review documentation related to First Sale for Export Program and CPSC compliance for U.S. Customs and other agencies
  • Coordinate resolution of documentation discrepancies with internal partners and the U.S. Customs Broker
  • Maintain Harmonized Tariff Code records and related import compliance documentation
  • Assist with administration of import compliance programs and recordkeeping requirements
  • Respond to requests from internal/external partners and provide updates on documentation status and compliance
  • Maintain organized records to support import compliance activities and audits
  • Perform other duties as assigned

You'll partner with cross-functional teams to keep shipments moving, coordinate import documentation, and help ensure Customs compliance, other government agencies compliance, andcompany standards every step of the way. This role will report to the Sr. Manager, Imports & Exports.

This role operates on a hybrid schedule and will require to work from our HQ located in the City of Industry, CA two (2) days a week.

  • Support the import compliance process by reviewing documentation for completeness and accuracy.
  • Review internal documentation related to the First Sale for Export Program and CPSC compliance to ensure established requirements for U.S. Customs and other government agencies are met.
  • Identify documentation discrepancies and follow established procedures to coordinate resolution with internal partners and the U.S. Customs Broker.
  • Maintain and update Harmonized Tariff Code records and related import compliance documentation.
  • Assist with the administration of import compliance programs, procedures, and recordkeeping requirements.
  • Respond promptly to requests from internal and external business partners and provide updates on import documentation status and compliance requirements.
  • Maintain organized records and documentation to support import compliance activities and audits.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • 1-2+ years of import experience or a combination of education with equivalent work experience.
  • Experience with USA importation process with a comprehensive understanding of USA’s Harmonized Tariff Code classification.
  • Strong knowledge in import process and compliance of all applicable government rules and regulations.
  • Experience in working with ocean and air freight carriers, customs brokers and import partners to ensure shipments are moving and no holds at the USA border and terminals.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of supply chain.
  • Strong communication skills including ability to work in a team environment, give honest, direct feedback and is a solid verbal and written communicator.
  • Meets deadlines, prioritizes appropriately, copes well with change, and maintains composure under pressure.
  • Is accountable for results, approaches obstacles proactively and looks for ways to resolve problems and issues.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, bend and lift/move up to 10 pounds.
  • The noise level is usually moderate to loud.
  • Experience with importing general merchandise in a Retail environment or a NVOCC preferred.
