The Opportunity
We're partnering with a growing organization in the PBM and healthcare technology space looking for an Implementation Project Manager who knows how to bring structure to complex software implementations and keep projects moving from kickoff through go-live.
This role sits at the center of everything - clients, IT, product, development, operations, vendors, and leadership. You'll lead both client-facing software implementations and internal technology initiatives, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and with the right level of technical and operational rigor.
We're looking for a true project manager - someone who understands how software implementations work, can manage technical dependencies and integrations, and is comfortable translating between business requirements and technical teams. You don't need to be a developer, but you should be technically fluent enough to ask the right questions, identify risks, understand dependencies, and keep technical workstreams moving.
If you're someone who can manage multiple priorities, bring structure to complex implementations, translate between technical and business teams, and keep stakeholders aligned (and calm), this is your kind of role.
What You'll Do
Project Leadership & Software Implementation
- Own projects from kickoff through completion, including planning, requirements, implementation, testing, go-live, and post-implementation activities
- Build and manage detailed project plans covering scope, milestones, resources, technical dependencies, risks, issues, and interdependencies
- Establish project timelines, deliverables, owners, and success criteria across multiple technical and business workstreams
- Lead client-facing software implementations and internal technology initiatives with equal confidence
- Coordinate cross-functional teams across IT, product, development, operations, implementation, and client stakeholders
- Identify project risks and dependencies early and drive timely resolution
- Lead client implementations involving software configuration, integrations, data exchange, and PBM workflows
- Drive conversations around benefit design, formulary setup, BIN/PCN configuration, pharmacy networks, prior authorization workflows, eligibility, claims, and data integrations
- Translate business and client requirements into clear project requirements and actionable deliverables for technical teams
- Coordinate technical requirements, configuration activities, data mapping, integrations, and testing across internal and external teams
- Lead UAT planning and coordination, defect tracking, go-live readiness, deployment activities, and post-implementation reviews
- Serve as a steady, knowledgeable point of contact for clients throughout the implementation lifecycle
Technical & Stakeholder Management
- Partner closely with IT, product, engineering/development, data, operations, and third-party vendors to ensure technical deliverables remain aligned with project objectives
- Facilitate requirements discussions and translate technical concepts into clear business language for clients and leadership
- Run effective project meetings, including kickoff meetings, working sessions, technical discussions, status calls, and go-live readiness meetings
- Manage expectations, navigate escalations, and communicate project status, risks, and decisions with transparency and professionalism
- Prepare executive-level reporting, including project health, milestones, risks, dependencies, and decision-support materials
- Ensure project documentation, requirements, decisions, action items, and deliverables are clearly captured and maintained
Operational Excellence
- Track project health, risks, issues, dependencies, and blockers across multiple concurrent workstreams
- Manage project scope and change requests, ensuring impacts to timeline, resources, and deliverables are understood
- Partner with internal teams, vendors, and third parties to coordinate technical and operational dependencies
- Establish and maintain repeatable implementation processes, templates, documentation, and workflows
- Identify opportunities to improve implementation methodology, project visibility, and delivery efficiency
- Help create scalable project management practices as the organization and technology platform continue to grow
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field
- 3-5+ years of project management experience, with a strong track record of leading software implementations or technology projects
- Experience managing end-to-end software implementations, ideally in a SaaS, healthcare technology, or enterprise technology environment
- Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects with competing priorities, dependencies, and stakeholders
- Strong understanding of project management fundamentals, including project planning, requirements, scope, risk and issue management, dependencies, change management, testing, and go-live execution
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with IT, product, engineering/development, data, operations, and external technology partners
- Comfortable working with technical concepts such as system integrations, APIs/data exchanges, data mapping, configuration, environments, testing, and defect resolution
- Strong understanding of PBM operations, claims adjudication, formulary management, benefit design, BIN/PCN, eligibility, and integrations
- Direct experience in the PBM, pharmacy, healthcare technology, or related healthcare technology space is strongly preferred
- Experience with project management tools and methodologies; PMP, Scrum, Agile, or similar experience is a plus
What Sets You Apart
- You're a project manager first - you know how to build a plan, establish accountability, manage dependencies, identify risk, and drive a project through the finish line
- You understand software implementations and can confidently work alongside technical teams without needing to be the technical expert
- You can translate between business requirements, client needs, and technical execution
- You're comfortable getting into the details when necessary while still maintaining the big-picture view
- You know how to manage competing priorities without losing sight of scope, timeline, or quality
- You communicate clearly with everyone from developers and analysts to clients and executives
- You bring structure without being rigid and can adapt when requirements, timelines, or priorities inevitably shift
- You're proactive - you identify the issue before it becomes the fire drill
Why This Role
This is one of those roles where you're not just managing timelines, you're shaping how clients experience the business. Done well, your work creates clarity, confidence, and long-term partnerships.
