Job summary

Seattle University seeks mentors for the Redhawk Academic Mentoring Program at Washington Middle School. You will provide weekly in-person mentoring to students in grades 6–8, building belonging and supporting both academic and social-emotional growth on-site.

Qualifications

• Participate in 1-2 mentoring sessions weekly and monthly professional development requirements.
• Willingness to grow mentoring skills and practices.
• Interact with scholars from diverse social and economic backgrounds in an academic setting.
• Be dependable with on-site presence and timely communication.
• Commit to developing a social justice and racial equity lens through training opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain authentic relationships with scholars, keeping detailed session notes, and collaborating with site staff.
• Communicate effectively with the Washington Middle School Site Manager, Graduate Assistant, Team Leader, scholars, and families.
• Plan weekly sessions and activities for scholars, including after-school programming.
• Submit communications and documentation on time.
• Commit to a full academic year.
