Job summary

Summer Search Seattle seeks a High School Mentor to manage a caseload of about 36–44 students, building long-term relationships through mentoring in school, at our office, or by phone. You will apply a mentoring approach grounded in adolescent development, cultural relevance, and critical consciousness to support students throughout high school.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of professional experience working with student populations served by Summer Search.
• Experience in group facilitation is strongly desired.
• Knowledge of adolescent development is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Mentor a caseload of 36–44 high school students with regular mentoring at school, in the office, or by phone.
• Utilize mentoring methods rooted in adolescent development and social context to facilitate reflection on identities.
• Hold students accountable for year-round participation and engagement.
• Monitor academic and extracurricular participation and post-secondary readiness.
• Communicate with families about summer experiences and opportunities.
• Conduct bi-weekly group mentoring sessions for sophomores and juniors.
• Create a safe space for students and foster collaborative relationships.
• Respond to student safety concerns and adapt facilitation as needed.
