Job summary

The Salvation Army Seattle White Center Corps is seeking an Academic Mentor to support youth and families in a part-time role. You will tutor students in Kindergarten through High School, monitor homework, and help plan curriculum and activities to build strong academic and social skills.

Responsibilities include coordinating transportation for students, maintaining records, and working with staff to create engaging learning environments.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to read and write clearly in English.
  • Experience working with children in an educational setting.
  • Must possess a WA driver's license and be able to drive TSA vehicles if needed.

Responsibilities

  • Tutor youth in various subjects including math, science, history and reading.
  • Monitor daily homework and reading assignments.
  • Develop curriculum and plan activities to engage students.
  • Drive a bus van to pick up students and maintain a transportation log.
  • Build and maintain relationships with children, youth and families.
