Job summary

Amazon in Oakley, CA is hiring a Workplace Health & Safety Specialist (WHSS) to lead safety programs, conduct audits, investigations, and risk assessments, and train associates to build a proactive safety culture.

As the safety champion, you will translate data into action, partner with leaders and frontline teams, and help Amazon maintain its goal to be Earth's Safest Place to Work.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor's degree in EHS-related field or 1 year in EHS-related work or 6 months in Amazon safety role.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations specifically 29 CFR 1910.
• Experience using Microsoft Word and Excel in a professional capacity.
• Experience maintaining confidentiality in workplace security/personnel matters.

Responsibilities

• Lead safety program implementation with data-driven strategies.
• Conduct daily safety audits, incident investigations, and risk assessments.
• Deliver safety training and promote proactive safety culture.
• Champion continuous safety improvements to protect employees and productivity.
• Translate safety data into narratives to drive engagement and actions.
• Serve as safety advisor and advocate for associate wellbeing and partnerships across levels.
