The City of Fridley is seeking an Accounting Technician – Utility Billing to manage utility accounts, process monthly bills, and ensure accurate financial records. You will combine accounting and data analysis with customer service to resolve questions and support residents.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of work experience in utility billing or related function.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Provides customer service over the phone, in person, email and written correspondence for utility billing.
• Performs and assists with all functions of the utility billing process.
• Sets up new address accounts and maintains customer accounts.
• Performs data entry, consumption analysis and adjustments.
• Processes all aspects of the monthly billing statements.
• Organizes, analyzes and enters meter reading data.
• Processes bank adjustments for returned payments and notifies customers.
• Reviews and approves system activity to ensure reconciliation between utility billing and the financial system.
• Provides assistance in processing the annual delinquent utility account certifications.
• Updates annual utility service rate changes.
• Reviews, analyzes and enters changes to the winter quarter sewer consumption.
• Prepares reports and surveys and special projects.
• Attends meetings and training.
• Performs other duties as assigned or apparent.

Education

High School diploma or equivalent

Two-year degree in business administration, finance or accounting related field
