The Office of the Illinois State Treasurer in Springfield, IL is seeking an Office Specialist (2 vacancies) to support the Unclaimed Property Division. The role focuses on processing claims, handling correspondence, and ensuring timely communication with owners seeking to recover unclaimed property.

Minimum qualifications include an associate degree and several years of office experience, with knowledge of probate laws; strong computer and Outlook skills, and excellent written and verbal

Qualifications

• Associate degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Three or more years of related office experience and one or more years of unclaimed property industry experience.
• Knowledge of Illinois Probate Code and non-Illinois probate laws.
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and the public.

Responsibilities

• Serve as initial contact for incoming calls and handle appropriately.
• Process daily settlement and warrant processing as needed.
• Review and index claims to closure, estate claims and level two approvals.
• Research incoming claims to identify properties available to claim.
• Process mail and perform filing and letter preparation.
• Communicate with private citizens and legal representatives about unclaimed property issues.
• Perform other duties related to unclaimed property operations.
