Job summary

At Peace Health Care is seeking a compassionate Employment Specialist to provide Supported Employment services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, helping them identify goals and obtain competitive employment at community sites.

The role involves working with individuals, families, coordinators, and employers to develop job skills, supports, and independent functioning, including coaching, job analyses, and placement at local businesses.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required/preferred in human services or related field.
• Ability to work with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build professional relationships with community employers.
• Ability to work independently in community-based settings.
• Strong organizational and documentation skills.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
• Reliable attendance and dependability.
• Valid driver's license and transportation when required.
• Ability to complete required background checks and clearances.
• Completion of ODP/Chapter 6100 orientation and related trainings.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual, person-centered Supported Employment services based on ISP, strengths, preferences, needs, and goals.
• Identify career interests and employment preferences for individuals.
• Support job searching, applications, résumé development, interview prep, and employer outreach.
• Develop and maintain relationships with local employers.
• Complete job analyses to identify duties, training needs, and supports.
• Provide on-the-job coaching and systematic instruction.
• Use teaching strategies such as modeling, prompts, visual supports, and task analysis.
• Help develop workplace skills like attendance, communication, and time management.
• Encourage independence and natural workplace supports to reduce paid staff dependence.
• Develop plans to fade job-coaching as individuals become more independent.
• Assist with communication with supervisors and coworkers.
• Maintain professional boundaries with individuals, employers, families, and team members.
• Monitor progress and report changes to supervisor.
