Job summary

Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota is seeking Positive Support Specialists for its Intensive Community Residential Services programs. The role focuses on helping individuals with complex medical, behavioral, and mental health needs in home and community settings.

Responsibilities include promoting independence, advocacy, documentation, crisis management, and daily trauma-informed care. A supportive ALIVE workplace and growth opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; degree in a related field preferred.
• 1–2 years experience with people with complex needs; 3–5 years preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse individuals.
• Must be able to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals to be more independent in essential life skills such as meal preparation, personal hygiene, and navigating the community.
• Advocate for individuals in areas such as rights, medical care, and community participation.
• Complete necessary documentation and record-keeping every shift.
• Manage crisis situations safely and effectively; training for Positive Behavioral Supports and restraints provided per 245D requirements.
• Engage in trauma-informed care daily.
