Job summary

Richard Milburn Academy seeks a Substitute Teacher for the 2026/2027 school year to support students in the absence of regular teachers. The role focuses on delivering prepared lessons, maintaining classroom routines, and promoting a positive learning environment.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or higher, strong communication, and the ability to work well with students, parents, and staff. Prior experience with at-risk youth is preferred.

• High school diploma or higher required.
• Ability to work politely with parents, students, and staff.
• Experience or training with at-risk students preferred.
• Experience in conflict resolution.
• Demonstrates knowledge in the educator's area of specialization.

Responsibilities

• Reports in a timely manner to the designated administrative office and staff upon arrival the school site.
• Reviews all plans and schedules to be followed during the teaching day as provided by supervisor.
• Maintains as fully as possible the established routines and procedures of the school and the classroom to which assigned.
• Teaches the lesson(s) outlined and described in the substitute teacher’s plan as prepared by the absent teacher or Principal.
• Consults with the Principal or supervisor before initiating any teaching or procedures not specified in the substitute plan.
• Oversees student behavior in assigned classes and supervisory assignments.
• Reports on the day’s activities at the conclusion of each teaching day per school routines.
• Follows policies and procedures to which regular teachers are subject.
• Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal.
