Job summary

Midland County Educational Service Agency is seeking a Speech and Language Pathologist to evaluate and provide services for students under IEPs, supporting communication development and system-wide language goals.

The role involves collaboration with teachers, families and community agencies, developing goals, and documenting progress, with a focus on individualized therapy plans and compliance with master agreement salary and benefits.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Speech and Language Pathology from an accredited college or university.
  • Certification through ASHA.
  • Michigan LARA Speech-Language Pathologist license or Michigan Teaching Certificate with SB Endorsement (Speech & Language Impairment).
  • Certificate of Clinical Competency (preferred). Applicants eligible for clinical fellowship will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Provides speech and language therapy to individuals with impairments, including development of individual education plans.
  • Works with children to develop verbal and nonverbal communication, speech sound improvement, the appropriate use of voice, and fluent speech.
  • Offers support to ESA classrooms and Early Intervention students.
  • Provides assessments and diagnoses of speech, language, voice and fluency impairments.
  • Develops goals and objectives based on evaluation results and/or student progress.
  • Makes referrals to agencies and specialists within the community.
  • Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with all staff, families, local districts and community agencies.
  • Maintains and provides the appropriate documentation, paperwork and progress reports.
  • Attends staff meetings and professional development as appropriate.
  • Works with parents / guardians to explain goals and methods of therapy.
  • Performs related work as requested.
