Qualifications

  • Considerable knowledge of state and federal policies overseeing services for students with disabilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Apps.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to protect FERPA confidentiality and comply with relevant laws.
  • Ability to collaborate in a team and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to motivate students and supervise safety in the classroom.
  • Familiarity with diverse backgrounds, abilities, and learning styles.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to build relationships with staff, families, and community.

Responsibilities

  • Develops IEPs for students with disabilities and updates them based on assessments.
  • Implements instructional strategies and progress monitoring for specially designed instruction.
  • Assists students to complete curriculum tasks and achieve IEP goals.
  • Employs varied teaching methods and adapts materials to student needs.
  • Monitors student behavior and maintains classroom discipline.
  • Evaluates student work and adjusts instruction as needed.
  • Attends IEP meetings as a collaborative team member.
  • Keeps up with trends and best practices via professional development.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
