Job summary

Wake County Public School System is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to coordinate and implement IEPs for students with disabilities. You will monitor progress, adapt instruction, and collaborate with families, staff, and administrators to ensure compliance with state and federal guidelines.

Strong knowledge of FERPA, Microsoft Office, Google Apps, and classroom safety, plus the ability to communicate clearly and work in a team, are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college/university.
• Hold or be eligible for a North Carolina Professional Educator’s License in an Exceptional Children’s teaching area.

Responsibilities

• Develops IEPs for students with disabilities and updates them as needed.
• Implements instructional strategies and progress monitoring to provide specially designed instruction.
• Assists students in completing curriculum tasks and IEP goals.
• Employs varied teaching methods and adapts materials to meet student needs.
• Monitors student behavior and maintains classroom discipline.
• Evaluates student work and coordinates progress report grades.
• Attends IEP meetings as a collaborative team member.
• Stays current on trends and best practices through professional development.
