Job summary

Gaming and Technology Academy of Saginaw is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to coordinate and implement curriculum and instruction for students with disabilities in an in-person setting. The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in special education, Michigan teaching certification, and at least one year of experience with students

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with major in a specific special education area.
  • Masters degree preferred for advanced pract
  • Valid Michigan Teacher Certification with the appropriate endorsement(s) for all subject area(s) being taught.
  • Minimum 1 year of work experience with special needs children.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and implements purposeful and appropriate lesson plans that maximize time on task.
  • Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning using varied teaching strategies.
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates IEPs and coordinates IEP team meetings with parents and guardians.
  • Uses assistive technology to support students' learning and success.
  • Communicates and collaborates with parents, teachers, administrators, and human services personnel.
  • Provides progress and interim reports as required.
  • Other duties as assigned by administration.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in special education
Masters preferred
