Job summary

The Gaming and Technology Academy of Saginaw (GATA) seeks a Special Education Teacher & Coordinator to launch and lead the Special Education department in a new charter school. This dual‑focus leadership role combines instructional excellence with program leadership to build compliant, high‑impact services.

As a founding member, you will design procedures, supervise IEPs, coordinate with external providers, and support teachers and families in a technology‑rich environment.

Qualifications

• Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with at least one Special Education endorsement.
• Minimum of 3–5 years of special education teaching experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement all Special Education SOPs, including referral processes and IEP meeting protocols.
• Serve as official Child Find Coordinator to identify and evaluate students with suspected disabilities.
• Ensure compliance with IDEA and MARSE.
• Oversee special education data and state reporting for ISD and state standards.
• Provide high-quality specialized instruction and interventions tailored to GATA students.
• Develop and maintain all special education paperwork (IEPs, Progress Reports, REEDs).
• Design systems to track student growth and refine IEPs using data.
