Responsibilities

  • Develop compliant IEPs that promote measurable student growth.
  • Implement IEPs and track student progress.
  • Update IEPs as students progress toward goals.
  • Assess students’ skills to tailor IEPs and lessons.
  • Develop and evaluate behavior support plans for communication, social skills, and sensory needs.
  • Ensure accommodations for state and district assessments.
  • Supervise state and district assessments as indicated by IEPs.
  • Use formative assessment data to adjust instruction.
  • Analyze progress reports to determine instructional effectiveness.
  • Communicate progress with staff, parents, and agency partners.
  • Mentor paraprofessionals who support students with disabilities.
  • Follow The Concord Creed and maintain a safe learning environment.
  • Create and manage service schedules for students with IEPs.
  • Participate in meetings, workshops, and seminars.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Salary: $55,000 – $65,000

We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic SPED Teacher to join our Team!

NATURE OF THE POSITION:

Teaching students with disabilities, providing individualized instruction and support to help them succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. They work with students who may have physical, mental, emotional, or learning disabilities, and collaborate with parents, general education teachers, and other support staff to develop and implement (IEPs)

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master’s degree in education or special education.
  • Valid Michigan teaching certificate with endorsement in at least one area of Special Education
  • Minimum 2 years of prior experience teaching special needs to school aged children.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF POSITION:
Accountability
  • Develop compliant Individualized Education Plans (IEP) that promote measurable student growth
  • Implement IEPs, assess students’ performance, and track individual student progress
  • Update IEPs throughout the school year to reflect students’ progress and goals
  • Assess students’ skills to determine their individual needs to develop IEPs and lessons
  • Develop and analyze effectiveness of positive behavior intervention and support plans representative of the student’s communication, social skills, and sensory needs
  • Ensure accommodation and supports are in place for state and district assessments
  • Supervise state and district assessments as indicated per IEPs
  • Use formative assessment data to adjust and modify instruction
  • Analyze progress reports to determine instructional effectiveness
Communication
  • Effectively communicate student progress, in oral and written formats, with school, parent, and agency partners
  • Responsible for ensuring communication with staff, parents, and agency partners regarding meetings
  • Plan, organize, and assign activities that support growth towards student’s IEP
  • Deliver instruction based upon differentiated curricular needs
  • Teach and mentor students as a class, in small groups, and one-on-one settings
Personnel
  • Supervise and mentor paraprofessionals who work within the classroom to support students with disabilities

  • Follow/support The Concord Creed as the core of the school culture and discipline plan
  • Help provide a safe, learning environment
Scheduling
  • Develop and manage the creation and implementation of the service schedule for students with IEPs
  • Participate in meetings, workshops, and seminars to convey and/or gather information required of the position
