Job summary

Virginia Beach City Public Schools is seeking a full-time Paraprofessional to support classroom teachers and assist students with disabilities in achieving instructional goals and personal care tasks. The role involves helping with behavior modification, mobility support, meal duties, and supervision of students during transportation and activities.

Requires a High School Diploma or GED; Title I assistants may need 48 college credits or equivalent credentials.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
Title I Assistants must have 48 college credits or pass paraprofessional assessment, or have an Associate degree.

Responsibilities

Assist classroom teacher in performing duties to enhance instructional objectives.
Work with individuals or groups as assigned.
Assist with behavior modification as assigned by teacher.
Lift, move, and operate adaptive equipment.
Assist with personal care tasks and mobility of students.
Escort students as assigned by teacher or administrator.
Transport students in and around the school and on field trips.
Monitor student safety and learning environments.
Maintain various records and files.
Perform related work as required.
