Job summary

Montgomery-Public-Schools seeks an Exceptional Education Instructional Paraprofessional to support a special education services teacher and students with disabilities. You will assist with instruction, manage data, and help with transportation and daily routines.

Responsibilities include reinforcing lessons, assisting with meals and mobility, and helping with IEP-related activities. Strong communication, teamwork, and attendance are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or 48 semester hours or passing ACT WorkKeys assessment.
• Ability to meet suitability criteria under Alabama Child Protection Act.
• Ability to work in a demanding, stressful environment.
• Proficient in oral and written communication with students, parents and others.

Responsibilities

• Reinforces concepts from lessons and checks accuracy of student work.
• Assists teacher with records related to attendance, grades, tests or behavior.
• Transfers students on/off buses and assists with mobility and positioning of students with special needs.
• Provides basic health, first aid or nursing care as directed by a school nurse.
• Maintains confidentiality of school/workplace information per law.
