Job summary

Uncommon Schools is seeking an Special Education Coordinator to advocate for students and manage all aspects of the school's Special Education programs. You will oversee IEPs, 504 plans, and collaborate with families, teachers, and leaders to ensure compliant, data-driven services across grades.

You will coordinate evaluations, support 504/IEP implementation, and lead meetings while maintaining records and ensuring alignment with NJ regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; NJ certification eligibility requirements.
• 1–2 years experience in urban K–12 settings preferred.
• Teacher certification not prerequisite in NJ, but certification must be pursued within a reasonable period.

Responsibilities

• Review intake assessments to ensure students receive required services per IEPs.
• Coordinate pull-out, push-in, small group, and 1:1 instruction.
• Schedule and facilitate IEP and 504 meetings; oversee evaluations and observations.
• Partner with general education staff and families to address 504/IEP accommodations.
• Maintain student records and prepare reports for regulatory agencies.
