Job summary

Uncommon Schools in New York City seeks a passionate Special Education Coordinator to manage all aspects of the school's SPED program and support students with disabilities to achieve high academic growth.

You will collaborate with general education teachers, families, and school leaders; coordinate IEPs and 504 plans; and help ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws while delivering advocacy and targeted instruction.

Responsibilities

• Review intake assessments to ensure applicable services align with IEPs.
• Coordinate pull-out, push-in, small group, and one-on-one instruction.
• Schedule and facilitate IEP, pre-referral, and Special Education team meetings.
• Manage evaluations, observations, and testing.
• Partner with general education teachers to advocate for accommodations under 504 plans and IEPs.
• Build relationships with families to support learning and development.
• Maintain student records and prepare reports for regulatory agencies.
• Use data to refine curriculum and instruction.
