Job summary

Torrington Public Schools in Torrington, CT, is seeking a Special Education Paraeducator for the Voices program at Torrington Middle School (grades 7–8). Under the direction of a certified teacher, you will work with students with disabilities in small groups or individually, reinforcing instruction.

You will assist in maintaining materials, equipment, and records of students and perform additional tasks as directed to meet each child’s IEP.

Qualifications

• Associate degree and/or 60 college credits or successful passing of the Para-Pro Exam.
• Warm and supportive personality with the ability to relate to children with a variety of special needs and disabilities.
• Ability to maintain the rules of confidentiality and the rights of all children.

Responsibilities

• Work with students with disabilities in small groups or individually, reinforcing instruction as directed by the teacher.
• Assists in the maintenance of materials, equipment, and records of students and any additional tasks as deemed necessary by the special education teacher or supervisor in order to meet the needs of each child according to their IEP.
