Job summary

Regional School Unit 2 is seeking a compassionate Long-Term Substitute School Social Worker for Monmouth Memorial School and Monmouth Academy. The role supports students with disabilities per IEPs and referred students off IEP, working with school personnel and outside agencies to address personal, emotional, and social barriers to learning.

The position involves counseling, assessments, planning, and collaboration with families to improve student outcomes.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid State of Maine LCPC or LCSW license.
• Current Criminal History Record Check (CHRC) certification.
• Experience working with adolescents in a school or clinical setting preferred.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, families, and school staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and small-group counseling sessions to address social-emotional or behavioral challenges affecting academics.
• Conduct assessments and risk evaluations as needed.
• Develop and monitor student support plans.
• Connect students and families with community resources and outside agencies.
• Provide crisis intervention consultation and direct services when necessary.
• Maintain confidential documentation in compliance with laws and policies.
• Participate in student support team and IEP meetings.
• Collaborate with administrators, counselors, teachers, and families as part of the student support team.
• Attend staff meetings, conferences, and district committees.
