Job summary

Freeport High School, part of RSU5, is seeking a Long-Term Substitute School Social Worker to support students' social-emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs. This is a full-time position running from roughly early October through late January.

The role involves individual and small-group counseling, collaboration with staff and families, crisis response, developing student support plans, connecting families with community resources, and maintaining confidential records.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Social Work or a Masters in Counseling is required.
• Active LCPC or LCSW license.
• Experience working with adolescents in a school or clinical setting preferred.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work effectively with students, families, and staff in a fast-paced high school environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and small-group counseling to students facing social, emotional, or behavioral challenges.
• Serve as a member of the student support team, collaborating with administrators, counselors, teachers, and families.
• Responds to crisis situations and conduct risk assessments as needed.
• Develop and monitor student support plans.
• Connect students and families with community resources and outside agencies.
• Maintain accurate, confidential documentation in compliance with school and legal requirements.
• Participate in student support team meetings, IEP meetings, and relevant staff meetings.
