Independent School District 196 is seeking a Nutrition Services Associate to support school meal services during the daily schedule. The role involves food production, serving, and cashiering using POS systems, with emphasis on safety and customer service for students.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, basic arithmetic/reading/writing, and the ability to lift 40 pounds. Training on Serve Safe is provided, with benefits and a pathway within the district.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED required.
• Basic arithmetic, reading, and writing skills.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and stand for 3–6 hours.
• Experience in institutional/school food service helpful.
• Must complete Serve Safe course and pass with 70% within 1 year.
• Point of sale experience preferred.
• Ability to work independently and manage time.
• Experience working with a culturally diverse school community preferred.

Responsibilities

• Comply with food service manager’s instructions on production, preparation and service of food.
• Account for meals (reimbursement and ala carte sales) per department standards.
• Clean-up of kitchen, serving area, cafeteria and dishroom as instructed.
• Adhere to safety standards in handling, storage and serving of food.
• Operate computerized POS to process students through breakfast and lunch lines.
• Work efficiently and cooperatively with other employees.
• Attend job-related trainings and workshops.
• Interact with students in a positive and professional manner.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
