Job summary

BLACK HORSE PIKE REGIONAL SCHOOL DISTRICT is seeking a School-Based Mental Health Focused Counselor for Timber Creek High School. The role delivers counseling, crisis support, and referrals to culturally diverse students, collaborating with administration, counseling staff, families, and community partners.

Ten-month employment with a salary range based on education and experience ($60,500–$102,350). Requires NJ School Counselor license and endorsements; strong teamwork and leadership are

Qualifications

• Valid New Jersey School Counselor or Student Assistance Coordinator endorsement.
• Two years of experience with children/youth in mental health services.
• Experience building partnerships with outside providers and community partners.
• Ability to work with students, staff, parents, outside agencies and community groups.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a school counseling core curriculum to raise mental health awareness and reduce stigma.
• Provide responsive services including referrals, short-term counseling, or crisis intervention.
• Recognize warning signs in student performance and behavior and act accordingly.
• Offer prevention and targeted interventions for mental and behavioral health needs.
• Plan individually with students addressing academic, career, and social/emotional needs.
• Educate staff and families about mental health and environmental factors affecting it.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure access to mental health services.
• Address barriers to access and reduce stigma, including cultural and linguistic factors.
• Follow confidentiality guidelines and ethical standards in practice.
• Refer students/parents to resources for additional mental health support.
