Job summary

Black Horse Pike Regional School District is seeking a School-Based Mental Health Focused Counselor at Timber Creek High School in Erial, NJ. The role reports to the Director of Counseling and involves a ten-month employment with a salary range of $60,500–$102,350 based on education and experience.

Qualifications

• Valid New Jersey Certificate for School Counselor and/or Student Assistance Coordinator Endorsement.
• Preferred to hold LPC, LMFT, LCSW, LSW, or LAC.
• At least 2 years' experience in working with children/youth in mental health.

Responsibilities

• Deliver the school counseling core curriculum to raise mental health awareness and reduce stigma.
• Provide crisis intervention and short-term counseling to help students stay in school.
• Identify warning signs and address changes in grades, attendance, mood, or behavior.
• Provide prevention and targeted interventions for mental health/behavioral concerns.
• Develop individual planning addressing academic, career, and social/emotional needs.
• Educate staff, parents, and community stakeholders about mental health resources.
• Advocate and collaborate with school and community partners to access services.
• Address barriers due to cultural/linguistic factors and confidentiality rules.
• Refer students/parents to resources for further support when needed.
• Assist with HIB investigations and anti-bullying programming.
• Participate in trainings on state mandates impacting student mental health.
