Job summary

CommWell Health seeks a Behavioral Health School Counselor/Therapist for Union Middle/High School in Clinton, NC. This on-site role provides behavioral health services to students referred for support, including assessments, diagnoses, and evidence-based psychotherapy within the school setting.

You will collaborate with teachers, families, and the student support team to implement individualized interventions and ensure confidentiality while coordinating follow-up care as needed.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in counseling, school counseling, social work, or related field.
• Active NC license (LCMHC, LCMHC-A, LCSW, LCSW-A).
• CPR/AED/First Aid certification from ARC or AHA, or BLS with Basic First Aid.
• NC licensure prerequisites for school behavioral health work (NCI+ Preventive Cert).

Responsibilities

• Provide behavioral health services to students in the school setting.
• Conduct screenings, assessments, diagnoses, crisis assessments, and treatment planning.
• Deliver evidence-based psychotherapy and behavioral interventions for emotional/academic needs.
• Respond to crises including suicide risk assessments and follow-up coordination.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators and families on interventions.
• Support staff with behavior management strategies and school-wide supports.
• Develop and monitor FBAs, BIPs, and other student support plans.
• Connect students with community behavioral health and related services.
• Maintain timely documentation and protect student confidentiality.
• Engage with school teams and community partners to promote student success.
