Job summary

San Diego Humane Society is hiring a full-time Safety Coordinator for our Employee Engagement (HR) team to oversee safety programs, inspections, and workers’ compensation administration. Based at the San Diego Campus, the role involves training, incident investigations, IIPP support, and partnering with staff to maintain a safe, inclusive workplace.

The ideal candidate will have an associate degree or recognized safety certification, a valid CA driver’s license, and proficiency with Microsoft

Qualifications

• Associate degree or recognized safety credential required.
• OHST or higher BCSP certification preferred.
• Valid CA driver’s license required.
• Experience with safety training and workers’ compensation highly preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and safety systems.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine workplace safety inspections and document hazards.
• Lead safety trainings and new-hire safety orientation.
• Investigate workplace incidents and track corrective actions.
• Manage workers’ compensation claims and submit to insurer.
• Support Injury and Illness Prevention Program implementation.
• Coordinate Workplace Violence Prevention activities and training.
• Perform ergonomic assessments and suggest improvements.
