Job summary

City of Grand Junction is seeking a Recycling Specialty Equipment Operator to perform skilled duties supporting the city's recycling operations, including operating collection vehicles and equipment to collect, transport, process, and transfer recyclables.

The role also covers servicing routes and the drop-off site, maintaining containers, operating forklifts and skid steers, conducting inspections, and promoting proper recycling while following safety procedures; the position is safety

Qualifications

Two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience in general labor, maintenance and repair, landscaping, or construction.
High school diploma or GED.
Possession of a Colorado Class "B" commercial driver's license with an air brake endorsement.

Responsibilities

Operate a variety of collection vehicles; collect, sort, decontaminate, and transfer recyclable materials from customer locations to designated facilities.
Collect, assemble, wash, and deliver plastic totes and lids.
Operate various equipment, including forklifts, hand tools, skid steers, and other specialized equipment.
Perform work in accordance with established safety procedures.
Respond to requests and inquiries from customers and the public; provide the public with information regarding the recycling collection process.
Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.
