Job summary

The Salvation Army North & Central Illinois Division is seeking a Program Director for the Adele and Robert Stern Red Shield Community Center in Chicago. You will lead recreation, education and community outreach programs, ensuring financial sustainability and alignment with the Salvation Army mission.

Responsibilities include program development, staff leadership, marketing, and overseeing facility maintenance and safety to deliver high-quality community services.

Qualifications

• Education: An Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation or Child Development; comparable experience considered.
• Experience: 2 years in a similar position including program development and community interaction.
• Driver’s license/MVR clearance required.

Responsibilities

• Lead recreation, education, community networking and program marketing efforts.
• Ensure center programs are financially sustainable and align with mission.
• Provide leadership and supervision to staff and volunteers.
• Coordinate maintenance, facility safety and rental operations.
