Job summary

International House at UC Berkeley is seeking a Product Manager for Admissions and Finance Systems to own the resident lifecycle from application through payment. You will configure, test, document, and own the automated processes that support admissions, billing, and reporting.

You'll collaborate with Admissions & Financial Aid, Accounting, Housing Operations and the tech team, including StarRez and payment providers, to ensure accurate data flows and timely cycles.

Qualifications

  • Three or more years owning a business system or product end to end.
  • Experience configuring and administering a complex operational platform (e.g., student housing, CRM, ERP or billing).
  • Strong applied data skills: ability to query a database and build trustworthy reporting.
  • Experience building automation (Power Automate, APIs or comparable).
  • Understanding of billing concepts: charges, payment schedules, statements, refunds and reconciliation.
  • Ability to meet a fixed calendar deadline on a critical build and document clearly.

Responsibilities

  • Build, configure and test the annual application in StarRez for each cycle, to a deadline set by the offer calendar, and hand it to the Director of Admissions and Financial Aid for sign-off.
  • Own day-to-day StarRez administration and troubleshooting, including terms, rates, room and rate assignments, booking statuses and the business rules behind them.
  • Maintain the integrity of booking and contract records; reporting problems are solved in the reporting, not by deleting records.
  • Support move-in and move-out cycles, including the access, card and data steps that have to happen in the right order.
  • Own the accounting automations that apply late fees and charges, run payment schedules, and generate the resident statement of account.
  • Own the payment integrations and the routing behind them, including Stripe and TouchNet, and the webhook and signing key configuration each provider requires.
  • Make sure the resident-facing account summary in the portal reflects what the ledger actually says, including awards and scholarships that are split across terms.
  • Work with Accounting on reconciliation, deferred revenue and the accounts receivable tie-out, and make the systems produce what the auditors ask for.
  • Diagnose and resolve integration failures, and where a failure repeats, change the process rather than repeating the fix.
  • Own the data models and reporting infrastructure in Power BI that serve admissions, occupancy, revenue and resident satisfaction.
  • Own the survey and satisfaction data pipeline, including the Qualtrics extract and the load that feeds the weekly reporting.
  • Make sure each report has a defined owner, a refresh that is monitored, and a definition that people agree on.
  • Document systems, processes and business rules to a standard that lets a colleague run the cycle without you.
  • Export code, workflow configurations, integration logic, database schemas and related artefacts to the shared repository.
  • Keep an accurate record of which system owns which decision, and where each responsibility sits if you are unavailable.
