Job summary

Ai2, a Seattle-based nonprofit AI research institute, seeks a senior product designer to own the design of Skylight and OlmoEarth. You will collaborate with researchers, engineers, and product teams to craft data-intensive interfaces and scalable design systems.

The role emphasizes user research, rapid prototyping, and strong visual design across web applications. You should bring 8+ years of experience, a portfolio of software interfaces, and fluency with modern AI tooling to accelerate design.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional product design experience in industry, focused on web applications and software products.
• Exceptional design fundamentals across usability, user research, interaction design, IA, visual design, and design systems.
• Experience designing data‑intensive applications: dense tables, charts, dashboards, filters, or analysis tools.
• Portfolio demonstrating at least one software interface design project, submitted with your application.
• Experience using AI tooling to move faster and rethink design processes; ability to prototype and contribute PRs.
• You build the design foundation for the team with common systems, patterns, and components.

Responsibilities

• Own the design for Skylight and OlmoEarth products, collaborating with ML researchers, engineers, and product managers.
• Partner with designers across the organization to ensure consistency and speed to ship.
• Present design decisions grounded in research, with clear rationale and measurable impact.
• Contribute to building scalable design systems and patterns used by multiple teams.
