Job summary

Medtronic in Minnesota is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer for the Cardiac Ablation Solutions unit. You will refine systems engineering to test interfaces, integrate systems into electrophysiology cath-lab environments, and support cross-functional teams.

The role emphasizes on-site collaboration, design controls for medical devices, and applying engineering principles to improve patient outcomes while advancing medical technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience OR Master’s with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience OR PhD with 3 years of relevant experience.
• Advanced understanding of Electrophysiology and comfort in hospital environments.
• Experience in Systems Engineering including defining systems architecture within medical device product development.
• Experience with the application of Design Controls for medical devices.
• Demonstrated ability to create strategies and influence cross‑functionally.

Responsibilities

• Participate on cross‑functional development teams in creation of integration, characterization, and troubleshooting testing, training, and guidance documents.
• Develop expertise in the application of systems engineering principles and identify opportunities for applying systems engineering within work assigned to the team.
• Support marketing, field engineering, technical services, and training and education in technical questions.
• Propose and implement changes to improve systems and/or processes.
