Responsibilities

• Coordinates and implements the Police Department's Volunteer and Community Ambassador programs; coordinates volunteers performing a range of duties, from clerical to street patrol/report writing.
• Recruits new volunteers’ candidates; provides onboarding for volunteer staff; creates announcements, reviews applications, conducts interviews, and requests local background checks for new volunteer candidates; recommends placement in and disqualification from the program; creates and maintains files; assigns volunteer staff to various areas of assignment.
• Coordinates and provides training to new and existing volunteer staff; creates training materials; selects training dates; provides training instruction or coordinates guest speakers; evaluates effectiveness of training; and adjusts training curriculum as needed.
