Job summary

Carle Health is seeking an Occupational Therapist to evaluate and treat patients of all ages in the Akron area. The role serves as a clinical resource and model for staff and students, developing care plans and communicating progress with the care team.

Responsibilities include designing plans of care, documenting outcomes, and educating patients and families. The position emphasizes safety, evidence-based practice, and collaboration with physicians and other therapists.

Qualifications

• BLS within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA).
• Licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) - IDFPR.
• Bachelor’s Degree: Occupational Therapy.

Responsibilities

• Performs patient transfers with assistance from bed, chair, or floor when needed.
• Uses safe body mechanics to reduce risk of injury to self, staff and patients.
• Designs an individualized plan of care with goals, treatment, outcomes and discharge plan.
• Adjusts care based on patient response and available evidence.
• Educates patients, families, caregivers, students and other providers with effective teaching methods.
• Evaluates clinical findings to determine PT diagnoses and outcomes of care.
• Performs examinations; selects reliable, valid methods relevant to complaints and history.
• Screens patients to determine need for therapy services and effectiveness of treatment.
• Monitors care delivered by support personnel and provides feedback.
• Documents evaluations and plans of care per department policy.
• Completes annual education for DNV Hip and Knee program where applicable.
• Communicates progress and recommendations with referring providers.
