The role develops county-wide nutrition education activities, coordinates marketing plans for school meal programs, and supervises staff while collaborating with health organizations to promote student achievement and healthy lifestyles.

Qualifications

• An earned bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• A minimum of five (5) years, within the last eight (8) years of experience and/or training in the field related to the title of the position.
• Registered as a dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
• Experience developing nutrition education materials, programs, and presentations.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Computer skills as required for the position.

Responsibilities

• Supervise staff as assigned in the performance of job duties.
• Develop, coordinate, and supervise county-wide nutrition education activities which promote the cafeteria as a learning laboratory for good nutrition.
• Promote the department’s mission of providing nourishing meals to support student achievement and healthy lifestyles.
• Act as the Food & Nutrition Services resource for nutrition and school meals information. Function as the department spokesperson on school meal related issues, providing media interviews when necessary.
• Plan, develop and coordinate marketing plans which promote increased participation in school meal programs.
• Develop and implement food service promotions and communication materials.
• Maintain the Food & Nutrition Services webpage and evaluate customer service through surveys and feedback.
• Establish and maintain partnerships with the District, health organizations, and community groups.
• Oversee special diets and allergies information.
• Oversee staff performance evaluations and coaching.
• Develop affiliation agreements with universities to precept students and enhance education.
• Develop and supervise Wellness Policy logistics and compliance.
• Create staff development programs and recognition activities.
• Maintain employee databases and training records.
• Assist with recruiting and intern manager training.
• Lead the Intern Manager Training Program.
• Develop recognition programs such as awards.
