Job summary

Volunteers of America Los Angeles is seeking a Monitor I - HSH to provide secure shelter operations and client support on-site. The role includes screening attendees, patrolling premises, and maintaining safety across program activities, with driving duties for licensed monitors as needed.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, and at least 6 months working with homeless or vulnerable populations. VOALA offers a supportive environment with benefits for full-time staff.

Qualifications

• Must be able to pass fingerprint clearance/background check.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 6 months experience working with homeless or vulnerable populations.

Responsibilities

• Monitor shelter entrance and authorize entry/exit.
• Screen bags and persons entering shelter.
• Patrol premises and report unsafe conditions.
• Maintain records of client compliance with program rules.
• Provide client/participant support and service delivery.
• Drive participants as directed (licensed monitors).
• Complete written reports and incident logs.
• Act as a role model for participants at all times.
• Other duties as required by the program.
