Job summary

Volunteers of America Los Angeles is seeking a Monitor I - HSH to help secure shelter premises and ensure client, visitor, and staff safety on site. Driving ability is preferred to support transportation needs.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, at least 6 months of experience with vulnerable populations, and a California driver’s license with a clean record. Fingerprint clearance and mandated training are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 6 months experience working with homeless and/or vulnerable populations.
• Current California driver's license and clean driving record.
• Must pass fingerprint clearance and background check.
• Must timely complete all mandated training.

Responsibilities

• SHELTER ENTRANCE MONITORING: guard entrance and authorize entry/exit for participants, staff and visitors.
• BAG & PERSON SCREENING: inspect belongings to ensure shelter safety and security.
• Patrol premises to prevent intrusion and maintain door/window integrity.
• SHELTER SAFETY: observe for unsafe conditions and assist in emergencies.
• CLIENT/PARTICIPANT SUPPORT: answer phones, greet visitors, assist program operations.
• DRIVING TASKS (licensed Monitors): transport participants as directed and ensure passenger safety.
