Job summary

Volunteers of America Los Angeles is seeking a Monitor I - Housing Support Services to help ensure the security of the shelter and safety of clients, visitors and staff on-site. Driving ability is preferred and may be required for participant transport.

The role emphasizes professional interaction with participants, incident reporting, and adherence to program rules while supporting daily shelter operations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 6 months experience with homeless/vulnerable populations.
• Must pass fingerprint/background check and TB screening.
• Must complete VOALA safety training within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Shelter entrance monitoring and authorization of entry/exit.
• Screen bags and persons entering the shelter.
• Patrol premises and report safety or security concerns.
• Maintain shelter safety, know fire exits, assist during emergencies.
• Complete written incident reports and logs daily.
• Drive participants as required (licensed Monitors).
• Provide client/participant support and monitor program rules.
