Job summary

Volunteers of America Los Angeles (VOALA) is seeking a Lead Monitor II to oversee safety and security for program clients, visitors, and staff in a shelter setting serving 100+ clients. The role includes supervising monitors, training staff, scheduling shifts, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols.

The position requires at least one year of related experience in mental health or group residential services, plus a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience in a mental health or group residential setting.
• 1 year of experience in security, social services, or related field.
• Ability to pass fingerprint clearance and background checks.
• Valid driver’s license preferred for driving tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assign shifts and ensure monitors are scheduled around the clock.
• Train monitors in safety and security procedures.
• Monitor shelter entrance and screen bags and persons entering shelter.
• Patrol premises and report safety concerns and incidents.
• Maintain written reports and incident logs of daily activities.
• Act as a role model for participants at all times.
