Job summary

McAlister Institute is seeking a qualified Mental Health Worker to join our San Diego area team. The role focuses on delivering individual and group counseling for clients with co-occurring disorders and developing personalized recovery plans in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

The ideal candidate holds a Master’s degree in a relevant field and is license-eligible with the California BBS or Psychology Board.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, Social Work, or Psychology from an accredited graduate program.
• License-eligible status and registration with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences or Board of Psychology (APCC, ACSW, AMFT; Psychology Associate).
• License-eligible practitioners must participate in supervision and be in good standing for a minimum of three years at the date of hire.
• Psychological Assistants must be registered with the Board of Psychology or eligible for registration.
• At least one year of providing co-occurring services with strong engagement, outreach, and motivational interviewing.
• Experience working with vulnerable populations, including individuals with substance use disorders and mental health conditions.

Responsibilities

• Provide mental health interventions, including individual and group counseling for clients with co-occurring disorders.
• Assist in development and implementation of personalized treatment and recovery plans.
• Conduct assessments and monitor clients’ progress in their recovery journey.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client interactions and progress.
• Educate clients and their families about substance use disorders, recovery and coping strategies, and mental health resources.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care and referrals as needed.
