Job summary

McAlister Institute in San Diego, CA, is seeking compassionate SUD Counselors to join our team. The role focuses on individual and group counseling, treatment planning, and supporting clients through recovery, reporting to the site Program Manager.

The ideal candidate holds a certified or registered SUD Counselor credential, with at least two years in behavioral health, and experience with diverse populations in residential or treatment settings.

Qualifications

• Certified or registered SUD counselor (CAADE, CADTP, or equivalent).
• Minimum of two years’ experience in behavioral health services.
• Experience working with adults in counseling settings.

Responsibilities

• Maintain an active caseload providing individual and group counseling.
• Develop individualized treatment plans and support clients’ recovery.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team including social workers and medical staff.
• Educate clients and families about recovery resources and processes.
• Coordinate with community resources and provide referrals when necessary.
• Maintain confidentiality and accurate client records.
