Job summary

McAlister Institute in San Diego is seeking an Assistant Manager to support the delivery of substance use disorder treatment and recovery services at an adult outpatient program. This leadership role blends direct client care with program oversight, managing an active caseload and ensuring compliance with DHCS standards.

The ideal candidate holds a CADC certification with 2+ years in behavioral health, preferably with experience in criminal justice settings and supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) per DHCS requirements.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Experience with probation or criminal justice system partners.
• Supervisory or program leadership experience preferred.
• Bilingual proficiency preferred.
• Familiarity with electronic health records.

Responsibilities

• Uphold McAlister Institute's mission and values.
• Manage an active client caseload and maintain clinical documentation.
• Conduct screenings, assessments, and intakes using ASI, ASAM, PCC.
• Develop, implement, and update individualized treatment plans with clients.
• Provide individual counseling, crisis intervention, and discharge planning.
• Facilitate workshops and recovery-focused services.
• Ensure evidence-based, trauma-informed, culturally responsive care.
• Assist with daily program operations and act as backup to Program Manager.
• Support staff supervision, scheduling, training, and coordination.
• Collaborate with criminal justice agencies and community partners.
• Assist with month-end reporting and administrative tasks.
• Maintain compliance with DHCS AOD standards, Drug Medi-Cal, Title 22, and 42 CFR.
