Job summary

Salas O’Brien in Oklahoma City (Moore) is seeking a Mechanical Engineer/Designer to design HVAC systems for new facilities, additions, and renovations. You will produce construction drawings and specifications and collaborate with clients and project teams to resolve mechanical issues.

The role requires a BS in mechanical engineering, 2–4 years of design experience, and knowledge of HVAC, codes, and design guidelines. PE license is preferred; LEED/Sustainable design experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (or equivalent).
• 2–4 years of design experience in mechanical systems.
• Knowledge of HVAC design and codes/standards required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred but not required.
• LEED accreditation or sustainable design experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop HVAC system designs for projects based on scope and client standards.
• Provide engineering design, evaluation, and planning of mechanical systems.
• Perform Load/Energy calculations with software (Trace 3D, HAP, IES).
• Conduct surveys and documentation of existing HVAC systems.
• Prepare design calculations and equipment selections for buildings.
• Write and edit project specifications and reports.
• Coordinate with disciplines (MEP, structural, architectural) and consultants.
• Provide construction administration (submittals, RFIs, site visits).
• Code compliance research and related tasks.
