Job summary

Oklahoma City Community College is seeking a Math Resource Center Tutor. The role supports student learning in math by guiding problem solving and explaining concepts in person in the Math Resource Center.

Current OCCC students (minimum 6 credit hours, or 3 hours in summer) or those with Federal Work Study are eligible. Typical schedule is 20–25 hours per week, with evenings and Saturdays as needed.

Qualifications

• Ability to interact with students individually or in groups.
• Explain mathematical concepts clearly through oral and written communication and demonstrations.
• Strong communication and human relations skills while performing at work.
• Commitment to helping peers learn and become confident, self-directed learners.
• Punctual and reliable, able to follow directions.
• Completion of tutor training and certification offered by OCCC.

Responsibilities

• Help students in the Math Resource Center with math assignments by asking questions and guiding problem solving.
• Circulate through the lab to assist students at tables and computers.
• Instruct and assist with math-related technology and software used in tutoring.
• Maintain tutor logs and keep materials organized and secure.
• Assist with enforcing Math Resource Center policies and maintain a clean environment.
• Participate in training and college initiatives and tutor certification programs.
