Job summary

Greenwich Public Schools seeks a long-term substitute special education teacher for Greenwich High School through approximately November 18, 2026; the position will carry full salary and benefits for the duration of the assignment.

The role involves evaluating students, developing IEPs, collaborating with the PPT, and providing specialized instruction to meet the needs of students with disabilities, with a focus on upholding state mandated due process procedures and serving as IEP Case Manager

Qualifications

• Current CT Special Education Teacher certification, or certifiability, is required.
• Experience is preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of special education.

Responsibilities

• Complete triennial evaluations for individual students using a variety of assessment methods
• Participate as a member of the Planning and Placement Team (PPT)
• Develop and implement an annual Individualized Education Program (IEP) in developing the Present Levels of Educational Performance, appropriate goals, and objectives
• Employ various teaching strategies, methods, and principles of learning to assist students in achieving their IEP goals
• Effectively manage the classroom and student behavior
• Collaborate and consult with educational professionals and community service providers
