Job summary

YES Prep Public Schools in Houston, TX seeks a Special Education Life Skills (Self-Contained) Teacher for a 10-month term starting 26-27 school year. The role includes data-driven IEPs, collaboration with a team, and community-based instruction, with an annual starting salary of $64,000 plus stipends and signing bonuses.

Qualified candidates will hold a TX SPED certificate, have 3+ years of experience, and demonstrate commitment to YES Prep’s mission and coaching culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and valid Texas SPED certification required.
• At least 3 years of exemplary Special Education teaching experience.
• Strong commitment to mission and collaboration within teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop rigorous Life Skills lessons using alternate curriculum.
• Set ambitious goals and monitor student progress with feedback.
• Create data-driven IEPs, service logs, and progress reports.
• Coordinate communication with families via calls, email or video.
• Supervise campus staff during duties and lead teaching assistants.
• Deliver TELPAS Alt and STAAR Alt 2 assessments as required.
• Plan and facilitate Community-Based Instruction (CBI).
• Collaborate with content teams for professional development.
