Job summary

YES Prep Public Schools in Houston, TX seeks a Life Skills Teacher (Self-Contained) for a 10-month assignment starting 26-27. The role focuses on delivering rigorous Life Skills lessons, documenting IEPs, and collaborating with a team to support diverse learners.

A TEA SPED certification and familiarity with TELPAS Alt/STAAR Alt 2 are preferred. The incumbent will partner with a Special Education Manager and Teaching Assistants to ensure high-quality instruction, ongoing assessment, and timely

Qualifications

• Experience with Life Skills programming or similar settings.
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution; TEA SPED certification.
• Strong collaboration and communication with families and teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop rigorous Life Skills lessons using alternate curriculum.
• Set goals with students and monitor progress with feedback.
• Track growth with data and coach feedback to plan student growth.
• Maintain regular communication with parents via calls, video, email.
• Create a conducive classroom environment for learning and development.
• Lead Teaching Assistants and supervise daily lesson execution.
• Complete IEPs, logs, progress reports, and compliance tasks.
• Schedule Community-Based Instruction for qualified students.
