Job summary

Family Life Academy Charter Schools in the South Bronx is seeking a Classroom Teacher for Grades K-5 to plan engaging, standards-based lessons and foster a culture of high expectations and inclusion.

The role works under the Principal, collaborates with SPED and ENL teams, differentiates instruction for diverse learners, and maintains proactive family communication while participating in ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.
• New York State Certification in Childhood Education 1-6 and/or Early Childhood Education Birth-2.
• Dual certification in ESOL or Students with Disabilities is a plus.
• Fingerprint and criminal background clearance is required.

Responsibilities

• Creates academically rigorous, standards-based, culturally relevant lesson plans that foster critical thinking and problem-solving.
• Differentiates instruction to meet diverse learning needs including students with disabilities and ELLs.
• Collaborates with Special Education and ENL teachers to support students through differentiation of materials.
• Analyzes data from ongoing formative and summative assessments to refine instructional practices and improve achievement.
• Maintains strong classroom management and implements school-wide policies for a safe, caring environment.
• Communicates with families using portals, report cards, and other channels.

Education

Bachelor’s degree

Master’s degree preferred

New York State Certification in Childhood Education 1-6

New York State Certification in Early Childhood Education Birth-2

Dual certification in ESOL or Students with Disabilities
